A CELEBRATORY CEREMONY + FEAST
An open-air encounter in the Baja California desert where we invoke the energies of the desert, of the animal spirits that protect the territory and ancestral memory (in the south they are called chaneques).
Under the waning moon we will meet to purify ourselves in a temazcal ceremony where through singing and sweating we will be born again, transformed into wild animals. We will drink and eat concoctions that will open our hearts to receive the energy of the desert. We will dance, dressed like nahuales, around the sacred fire and little by little we will enter the world of dreams. The next morning, waking up with the sun, we will have time to share our experiences and tour the space as humans - hot springs, walks, and a visit to the Shawii farm will precede a brunch feast cooked by 5 chefs with the best local products from the projects:
Aguamiel Oaxaca
”The sacred act of sharing food with connection and intention. Aguamiel offers ceremonial meals guided by our principles of integral health, ancestral wisdom and awareness around the preparation and consumption of food. We incorporate the sacred language of the ceremony as a way to connect with what we consciously consume, from the land where our food originates and how we choose our ingredients, to the way they are prepared, served and shared. “
Shawii Cocina
”Shawii (name given in honor of the Agave costero/Agave shawii) is thought of as a space to appreciate moments at the table, the transitional landscape between coastal scrub and chaparral; to appreciate the rural location of where we live, and the of being on the side of the highway. We have become a place for travelers, a space for the curious and friends, but also an educational space where we have shared and connected with diverse knowledge.”
Chef Alejandro Burgos of Bloodlust
Yemanja Mezcales Silvestres de Oaxaca
”From the magical slopes of Oaxaca, where the clouds crown the mountains, come the batches of the maestra Reina Sánchez. She explodes your senses with her deep and detonating flavors with the wild flavor of maguey, cultivated in the sacred soil and nourished by the water of the river that runs next to the Sánchez house. This is Yemanja, the result of hard work by Oaxacan hands, which imbue every drop with the wisdom of multiple generations.”
