AGUAMIEL x D E S E R T R A D E
Temazcal Ceremony + Desert Camping + Poolside Brunch
Fundraiser for D E S E R T R A D E Artist Residency
In May 2023 Aguamiel (Leahy and Gera) traveled from Oaxaca to the desert of 29 Palms, CA to build a temazcal inipi at our friend Ryan Heffington’s home and share a ceremonial meal and sweat lodge with an open-hearted and generous community under the full flower moon. We return to activate that center of healing again, gathering in celebration and gratitude to nourish our bodies and spirits. The weekend begins with an evening temazcal ceremony followed by a comforting light meal around the fire as we share stories and songs, and then camping under the vast desert sky. The next day, guests will go on a tour of Ryan’s nearby artist residency in the making,
D E S E R T R A D E, and when they return, will be served a special signature brunch by Aguamiel around the pool, where dips and sunbathing are invited as a closing activity. A percentage of the proceeds of ticket sales for this event will be donated to the constructing of D E S E R T R A D E, an artist residency and sanctuary run by Heffington.
D E S E R T R A D E is a meeting place for people of all backgrounds to come together, create, and connect by
hosting workshops, lectures, gatherings, concerts, performances, dinners, and spiritual and healing retreats. Our goal is to create healthier humans within a dignified culture. We believe that through communion, education, and elevation, we can create a more inclusive and conscious world.
D E S E R T R A D E is a non-profit organization under the LIVVING FOUNDATION umbrella. Your donation will support our mission to provide artists with the materials, stipends, lodging, and workshops they need to create and connect. Specifically, your donation will help us to:
Provide artists with the materials they need to create their work, such as paint, clay, and tools.
Offer stipends to mentors who will provide guidance and support to artists in residence.
Provide lodging for artists in residence, so that they can focus on their work without worrying about housing costs.
Complete the construction of workshops and bungalows, so that artists have a dedicated space to create and collaborate.
We look forward to communing again in the spirit of ART and COMMUNITY…FOR ALL OF OUR RELATIONS!
